The recent ruling by Appellate Court that presidential results as announced by Returning Officer at constituency level will hand over opposition leader Raila Odinga a victory, says Zakayo Cheruiyot.
A three bench judge sitting in Nairobi upheld High Court’s earlier decision after polls’ body IEBC appealed the ruling.
And the Kuresoi MP insists that the ruling would be a reprieve to Odinga, who has contested presidential results before in vein.
“It means more transparency, accuracy and authentic results. There will be no more rigging,” said Cheruiyot in reference to rigging of elections.
He added: “This means the popular candidate, Raila Odinga will be president. There is no doubt about it and everyone knows that.”
Despite Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri urging IEBC to appeal the ruling in Supreme Court, the poll’s body has dismissed the calls.
The Kuresoi MP broke ranks with DP William Ruto over his move to dissolve URP party and has since moved to CCM which is closely associated with Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto.
