Deputy President William Ruto has called upon Kenyans to maintain peace even as they wait for the Supreme Court’s verdict on the petition by Raila Odinga challenging the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He said Kenyans should stay as brothers and sisters despite their political and tribal affiliations.
“There is no need for tension or fear. Leave us as leaders to tackle our political issues in court," he said during Sunday service at the Africa Inland Church (AIC), Kiborokwa,Uasin Gishu County.
"Kenyans should continue praying for peace and unity as we wait for the court ruling. We don't want what transpired in 2007 to reoccur," he added.
He, however, applauded the opposition for solving elections issues in court rather than resolving to mass action.
"This shows we have matured politically. I want to urge my brother Raila Odinga to accept the Supreme Court’s verdict since Kenya is bigger than an individual," noted Ruto.
