Samuel Chepkonga, the outspoken Ainabkoi MP and a close ally of DP William Ruto, becomes the latest casualty in the ongoing nationwide Jubilee Party primaries.

With bigwigs Cleophas Lagat (Nandi), Benjamin Cheboi (Baringo) and William Kabogo falling victim of ruthless voters, Chepkonga’s woes may not be that significant.

In the fiercely contested primaries where winner is as well projected as August polls’ victor, Chepkonga lost to William Chepkut who beat him with a margin of 185 votes.

Although he has not given his official position on the outcome, Chepkonga however can be able to contest the result given the narrow margin.

The National Assembly Legal Committee chairperson has been in the frontline defending Jubilee governments legislative Bills and contests among them the contagious Election Laws.

Being a chief critic of opposition leaders, Chepkonga also successfully blocked attempts to have likes of Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka from receiving their ‘retirement’ benefits arguing that they ought to retire from politics.

Back at Ainabkoi, he succumbed to alleged propaganda of being an absentee legislator from county matters. He garnered 13, 100 votes to Chepkut’s 13, 285.
