Deputy President William Ruto has announced that the Jubilee administration will now shift its focus to uniting the country.

Speaking on Tuesday shortly after taking an oath of office, Ruto noted that the administration, under the stewardship of President Uhuru Kenyatta will ensure that they build bridges after a bruising political battle.

“As people of Kenya, we must turn together to resist ethnicity, to refuse division and to reject violence. What is important to us is the transformation of our country, the development of our nation. We know there will be no development if there is no peace,” he stated.

Ruto further lauded the two previous elections, observing that it demonstrated the country's growing and strengthening democracy.

“Today is the culmination of elections decided on two national formations as opposed to the past, we celebrate the fact that we have the capacity to decide our destiny, elect our leaders and choose our priorities as a nation,” he said.
