Ruto lauded Raila and Uhuru for giving dialogue a chance, terming them as statesmen.

The DP congratulated the duo for rising up against the division and negative ethnicity that was witnessed in the country following the disputed August 8 election.

“Congratulations PRES. UHURU & RAILA for being statesmen. You have risen to the moment for Kenya and against hate, negative ethnicity and division. The unity, stability, and transformation of Kenya supersedes all other partisan interests. Wangwana mubarikiwe mpaka mshangae,” read Ruto’s tweet.

This comes after Uhuru on Friday held talks with his political rival Raila at the office of the President in Harambee House, before addressing the press.

In a joint statement, the two noted that they had resolved to work together to heal Kenya following the divisive 2017 elections.

They said it was time to put to an end the political differences that have divided more than four generations of Kenyans.

“We need to save our children from ourselves. My brother and I have come together to say 'this dissent stops here'. We refuse to allow our diversity to kill the nation," said Raila.
