Thursday's rare confession by DP William Ruto that he may have wronged a section of Kenyan leadership through 'political propaganda' has won him praises across Nyamira.
In the National Prayers breakfast, Ruto asked for forgiveness from NASA leaders Raila Odinga and kalonzo Musyoka upon president Uhuru Kenyatta's request.
"I don't know what to say, I am the most attacked leader. However, I have also clashed with my opponents and even run political propaganda against them. Please forgive me," he said.
His remarks came moments after President Uhuru Kenyatta also apologised to his political nemesis cum friend Raila Odinga.
But his simple remarks may have won him support from among Nyamira resident, a region where he is not such popular.
"I have always known him as a politician with ego, a war monger and so on. Embracing Raila and his supporters is the best thing he has done," said Gladys Amis on Facebook.
Jones Nyamumbo said: "His decision to admit the wrongs has made me change perception against him. That is the true leadership which we all desire."
Before the Thursday's function, a section of ODM leadership from the region, led by Timothy Bosire, had asked him to apologise on 2007 PEV.
With just four years to 2022 polls, Ruto has been mobilising for support from among the Gusii community, which now commands over 1 million votes.
