Speaking in Kikuyu Town on Friday, DP Ruto said the government will smoke out both the ‘big and small fish’.The DP said the government is serious in the fight against corruption, adding that those implicated should pack their bags and prepare for their prosecution.Ruto asked independent investigating and prosecuting agencies to do their work diligently and ensure corrupt officials are put behind bars.He also called on politicians across the divide to support the government in the fight against corruption.The DP said that corruption remains a serious threat to the realisation of development.“It is no longer business as usual and anyone who is implicated in corruption whether big or small should be ready to face the law,” said Ruto.The DP also asked Kenyans to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration in its quest to stem out the vice.On Tuesday, 46 suspects charged in court over the alleged theft of Sh9 billion at the National Youth Service (NYS) were denied bail and bond.The suspects among them suspended Public Service Principal Secretary Lilian Omollo and NYS Director General Richard Ndubai were charged with 10 counts of corruption offenses.Anti-corruption Magistrate Douglas Ogoti denied them bond and bail, noting that the charges facing them are serious and thus they will remain in custody pending their trial.Some of the suspects have however appealed the ruling.
