Despite anchoring in what is now popularly known as Tanga Tanga movement in Gusii, Deputy President William Ruto has suffered a major setback weeks after launching the caucus.
Ideally, a host of legislator fronting Ruto's 2022 presidential bid have camouflaged in the movement, whose titled was derived from President Uhuru Kenyatta's statements.
But proponents of the movement have been embroiled in a vicious fight at Gusii, a move that might scuttle Ruto's chances.
"We all have a common agenda to popularize the DP but a few of us have hijacked the idea and formed a movement called Tanga Tanga.
"They are proposing themselves to the DP yet we have several leaders who haven't been invited. As one of those dissatisfied, I will not be part of the movement," said North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko.
Similar sentiments have been aired by West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi who said the DP is being misled by 'brokers' in his quest to conquer Kisii and Nyamira Counties.
Interestingly, South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro, who has been fronting the movement, has been slammed by the two legislators as 'mean and busybody' whose intention is to get monetary favours from the DP.
