National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has accused Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya of betraying his electorate after defecting from the opposition to the ruling Jubilee Party. On Sunday, Kalonzo claimed Mvuyra decamped from the ODM to Jubilee to seek protection for mismanaging the county government. The Wiper leader and his NASA co-principal Moses Wetang’ula further alleged that the governor’s close ties with Deputy President William Ruto were suspicious, the Standard has reported. They now want a probe launched into Ruto’s wealth, further warning Coast residents to be wary of the DP’s frequent visits to the region. The opposition chiefs further accused Mvuyra of asking for handouts from Jubilee instead of using the devolved funds to improve infrastructure and livelihoods. They claimed Mvurya had failed to protect the county’s mineral wealth, asserting that top Jubilee leaders were planning to grab land in regions where minerals have recently been discovered.“Someone with an insatiable appetite for land has recently acquired 3,000 acres of land in Kwale after the discovery of nobium,” said Kalonzo while referring to a Jubilee politician whom he did not name.On the NASA leadership, Kalonzo and Wetangula said President Uhuru had become a frustrated man after realising there is no fallout among the principals. They asked NASA supporters to be patient as the four including ODM’s Raila Odinga and ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi strategise on naming the flag bearer to face Uhuru.“Any of the four NASA principals can be president. We are a team determined to liberate Kenya from Jubilee’s misrule,” said Kalonzo.“Liberty will come on August 8 when one of us becomes president, which will be victory for all of us and the whole country,” added Wetangula. The duo made the remarks during a rally in Kinango, where they further accused the Jubilee administration of using force to intimidate Coast residents.
