Deputy President William Ruto has caused hullabaloo on social media after a tweet in which he seemingly alleged that CJ David Maraga had taken sides after his press briefing on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, an infuriated Maraga dared politicians who had been criticising the judiciary to call for a referendum and abolish the arm of the government, a statement seemingly directed at Jubilee for their consistent attacks after he nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's win.
“If leaders are tired of having a strong and independent Judiciary, hey should call a referendum and abolish it all together. Before that happens the Judiciary will continue to discharge its mandate according to the Constitution,” he stated.
In a rejoinder, Deputy President William Ruto did not spare the CJ noting that the only words missing in his statement was "NASA HAO! TIBIN! & TIALALA!
The DP's tweet caused a storm among kenyans with leaders from both Jubilee and NASA joining the conversation.
Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua: " A judge is a judge even when they rule against you!"
Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa echoed Ruto 's sentiments, " A judge is not GOD! They are human and they have biases that they are now exhibiting so openly!"
Suna MP Junet Mohammed took a jibe at the DP: " Your excellency I know you are not used to this new Kenya under the rule of law but it's the journey to canaan. . Welcome on board!"
