Deputy President Wiliam Ruto's wife Rachel Ruto has reportedly been denied United States of America Visa over misappropriation of donor funds from a US based women organisation for her table banking initiative.
According to a source privy to the information, Mrs Ruto was to travel to the US together with First Lady Margaret Kenyatta last week, but was denied entry to the foreign country following allegations that her table banking initiative squandered donor funds.
"It is alleged that she was unable to adequately account for the monies that she received from the United States based women's organisation. This may have been the cause why she was denied the privilege of being in the USA," said the source.
This comes barely a year after Robert Godec, the US Ambassador to Kenya, last year November said that Kenyan officials indulging in corruption will find it extremely difficult to travel to the US.
Godec further said US government will consider denying senior government officers travel Visas to his country because of the high level corruption that is threatening to bring development in Kenya to a standstill.
