Deputy President William Ruto continued meddling in Bomet politics would injure his reputation as a national leader, observes former Chepilat councilor Japheth Korir.
The DP is believed to be supporting Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso at the expense of defiant Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto who reportedly sustained injuries on Sunday’s fiasco that rocked his supporters and those of Jubilee party.
Speaking on Tuesday at the Borabu-Sotik border in the annual peace keeping event, the veteran politician urged the DP to focus on national politics or risk being embarrassed.
“I have been in politics for a while and I think the DP should leave Bomet politics to locals to decide. He may be not in good terms with Governor but at the same time he can’t underestimate the Governor’s influence,” he said.
“Let Laboso and Rutto square out without external interference and the DP should just concentrate on national politics. It will be embarrassing for instance if the incumbent beats the DP’s favorite candidate Ms. Laboso,” added Korir.
He also urged supporters allied to Mashinani Party and Jubilee to tread carefully to avoid creation of detrimental crises in the government’s strongholds.
