Nakuru County Human rights director David Kuria wants the director of public prosecutions to intervene and speed up investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing of David Kariuki by unknown assailants.

“I urge the family and residents to remain calm as l call upon the DPP to investigate the matter to establish the perpetrators,” said Kuria in an interview.

Kuria condemned the killing, saying he had written to the DPP to undertake conclusive investigations to bring to book the killers.

The lobby group has also written to the Inspector General of Police, seeking to have suspects arrested and prosecuted.

According to Hannah Wangare, her son had told her that he was being trailed by unknown people prior to his death.

The deceased was found lying death in a pool of blood at a friend’s house with wounds on the stomach and chest.

Wangare yesterday said her son's killers have not been arrested even after the first autopsy conducted by an independent pathologist confirmed that he was murdered.

Deceased’s mother further said that the owner of the house where her son’s body was found has maintained that the deceased, who was his friend and workmate, committed suicide.

She, however, insisted that no arrest has been even after the incident was reported to Teachers police post and later Nakuru central police station.

She said justice for her son is being delayed and called upon the DPP to order for a probe into the incident.

“No one has been arrested. The killers are somewhere walking scot-free even after it is clear that my son was murdered,” she said.

Kuria now wants the owner of the house where the deceased was found dead arrested to help the police with investigations into the murder.

He also wants the intervention of the DPP in the matter to establish why police in Nakuru have been reluctant to investigate the matter eight months after a report was made.
