DPP Keriako Tibiko. [Photo| Daily Nation]Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko has promised to defend the rights of journalists during their line of duty. To enable that, Tobiko said he will partner with media houses. The DPP further said members of the fourth estate should not be blocked from seeking any information that other arms of the government may want hidden.In a speech read on his behalf by his deputy Dorcas Oduor, during the closing ceremony of the National Mechanisms for Safety of Journalists regional meeting on Tuesday, he also asked journalists ,to be fair in their reporting. "Whatever the challenges you face, never be cowed from telling the truth in an impartial, objective and responsible manner," read the speech."Remember leaders know the power the media wields and so they will do whatever they can to infiltrate and control it. So watch out and tread carefully lest you give bad elements platform to destroy our beloved countries," he added.
