The office of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko says it has not approved charges against the late Wahome Gakuru’s driver.

ODPP said on Thursday morning that the DPP had only asked the police for the file for perusal and directions.

“Clarification: ODPP has not approved any charges against the driver of the late Nyeri governor Wahome Gakuru…DPP Tobiko has called for the file for perusal and directions,” reads a Tweet by the ODPP.

Gakuru passed on at the Thika Level 5 Hospital Tuesday last week after a grisly accident near Kabati.

Mutahi Kahiga has been sworn in as Nyeri governor.

Gakuru will be laid to rest on Saturday.
