The Director of Public Prosecutions has constituted a team of 105 officers to tackle electoral offences, hate speech and incitement to violence during the political campaign period.

The team will be served by a 24-hour secretariat to coordinate and facilitate the prosecution team.

"The DPP assures members of the public that his office has put in place election preparedness measures aimed at ensuring that all cases of criminal nature will be dealt with effectively and suspects brought to account to ensure a secure environment for a free, fair and peaceful election," Tobiko said in statement signed by Secretary of Public Prosecutions Dorcas Oduor.

He said so far, an aspiring governor, and MP as well as two sitting MCAs are among the 62 people who have been charged with election related offences.
