The opposition is using the director of public prosecutions to frustrate the government’s war against graft, a member of parliament has claimed.
Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria said that DPP Keriako Tobiko is being used by the opposition and powerful corrupt cartels to water down corruption cases facing senior government officials by killing the evidence presented to him by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
Speaking at Nakuru town on Tuesday, Gikaria accused Tobiko of lacking the will of bringing to book corrupt officials, claiming that that is why he has been clearing ministers who were being investigated after being linked to graft.
“Tobiko has turned to be an agent of the opposition and the corrupt cartels who want to frustrate the Jubilee government’s efforts of fighting graft in this country. His actions have proved that he does not have the will to help the government fight corruption and the best thing for him is to quit,” said Gikaria.
Gikaria said that Tobiko's is being used by the opposition to portray President Kenyatta and his government as ineffective in fighting graft.
“The opposition wants to portray the government as a corrupt and graft entertaining outfit and they are using Tobiko to achieve that but as Jubilee we are watching Tobiko very closely and we want him to know that we will react and act if need be,” he said.
