Samuel Kinyanjui, the driver of the late Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru was taken to Kigumo Law courts to face charges of careless driving.

He was the man behind the wheels on that fateful morning, when the vehicle carrying Gakuru rammed into a rail road, killing him and injuring others in the car.

However, the court case did not proceed as planned because the Director of Prosecutions had not approved the charges that were to be preferred on Samuel.

The Director of Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko recalled the files, saying he will communicate a fresh date for the case after a through perusal of the file.

But while the case still stands, investigations into the cause of the accident continue, with detectives working with DT Dobie and tyre manufacture Pirelli, as they look to ascertain the real cause.

Reports have emerged that the care might have been faulty, leading to the accident on the morning of the incident.

The late governor will be buried at his home this Saturday.
