Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has warned farmer Manskul Patel against the privatization of a river in Solai area.
Haji said Patel had diverted the river to his dams in the Solai Coffee estates farm.
According to the DPP, it is an offense to personalize a public resource that should benefit the people.
Speaking on Monday, Haji said the move is an offence.
“There is a river here that should have been for public use but owned by an individual. Members of the public are not supposed to go and borrow water from the river but should access the river freely. This is an offense and we are going to get to the bottom of it,” he said.
The DPP said investigations are underway to establish what led the dam to burst.
