Dr Roselyne Akombe has broken her silence on the preparedness of IEBC to hold credible elections on October 26 after rendering her resignation citing divisiveness and partisan decision making among commissioners.
Dr Akombe in a telephone conversation with KTN News on Wednesday morning revealed that issues of the state of the IEBC servers were part of her frustration in office saying key decisions on the servers were yet to be implemented.
She said a decision to have the servers audited was made several weeks ago but nothing had been done yet the elections were nearing.
"We made a decision on that the servers should be audited several be weeks ago and nothing has been done until now. How do we then want to go into another election with the same servers that were key in the election nullification," paused Dr Akombe.
Akombe pulled a shocker exit from the commission while in New York with only seven days remaining to the elections and during the interview she noted that it was unfortunate that security concerns for IEBC staff in parts of Kisumu, Migori and Siaya had made them reduce time for staff training and that this was clear they wouldn't be adequately prepared.
She added that she fears her return to Kenya remains uncertain and it is clear she would not be received well in the event she returns home.
President Kenyatta is expected to declare her position vacant with seven days.
