Dr Musyoka claims that the county government has ignored the plight of street families, orphans and the elderly persons.

She said that the constitution agitates for the rights of all marginalized groups in society.

“The county government should establish a kitty that will empower street families and the elderly as provided for in the constitution,” she said when she visited Mwiso Children’s Home in Mwala constituency on Tuesday.

Dr Musyoka noted high number of street families in the county.

The women leader  indicated that some of the street children can be adopted and empowered through education.

“These are the people who have talents that can be used to change their lives,” she said.

Dr Musyoka also asked the county to help the elderly persons access available funds set aside for them under the elderly fund.

She said that some elderly persons registered for the Sh2000 monthly stipend have never received the money.

Dr Musyoka noted that many elderly persons in the county are living in poverty with no one to care for them.

The Women representative urged the County Assembly to formulate policies that will push for the rights of the marginalized groups.
