There was drama at a homecoming ceremony of a civil servant in Maseno after the Master of Ceremony’s (MC) phone went missing.
The angered MC brought the ceremony to a halt in pursuit of his ‘expensive’ phone.
The MC took to the podium cursing and insulting whoever took his phone, which was receiving ‘important’ messages from people ‘big’ people who had not made it to the ceremony.
According to the MC, he gave his phone to the DJ to be the charged, but after a few minutes the phone went missing.
Those present at the ceremony suspected that a group of young men who had surrounded the DJ could have stolen the phone.
The ceremony was thrown into frenzy as old men came forward cursing and ordering for a search of the phone.
“We want to warn you young men. Return that phone before it is too late. It is an expensive phone and you also know you it can be traced,” noted Douglas Shimbala.
The young men who had sat close to the DJ where nabbed, questioned, and searched by the old men, but the phone was not recovered.
“We have given them until tomorrow or else someone will go mad. It is better to take advice this early,” noted Richard Onyonja an elder.
One of the youth accused to have taken the phone accused the old men of overreacting.
“We all lose phones one is a while. The old men want to make it look like a very big issue here. They even brought the ceremony to a halt. They should learn to be careful in future,” said Timothy Ogembo.
The function later continued later after another MC was contracted.
