An assistant chief was on Thursday ejected from a public meeting by residents for being drunk and disorderly.

Mr. Matheka of Ngelani Sub location was dragged out of the meeting held outside his offices at Ngelani in Mavoko, Machakos County. The meeting had been convened by Muthwani MCA George Kingori. It was meant for the residents to share their experiences and raise their development concerns with the MCA for positive intervention.

Trouble began when Kingori started to respond to the residents’ complaints few minutes after the assistant chief arrived at the meeting. The drunk provincial administrator was brought to the meeting’s venue on a motorbike by a boda boda operator. He rose from his seat and started shouting at Kingori immediately the MCA started responding to the locals’ questions and concerns. “No! no! no! no! that is politics, we do not want politics here,” shouted Matheka.

Kingori had just started explaining roles of elected leaders when the assistant chief interrupted. Residents swiftly held and frog matched him out of the meeting as he kept shouting. He was moved far from the meeting before being taken into his bedroom within the same building his office is to rest.

The meeting later went on uninterrupted. The residents condemned the chief’s conduct and demanded for his immediate sacking adding that he was nuisance and embarrassment to the community.

“How does the government expect such a drunkard to serve us, we have tolerated for long hence demand his immediate sacking,” said Regina Mutetu.

Mutetu said the chief was a disgrace and bad example to the residents especially the youth noting that some of the youth had resorted to drug abuse since the chief was deeply into it.

MCA Kingori did not comment on the incident. He urged the residents to concentrate on development and ignore distracted and politics of hatred.
