Efforts by Uasin Gishu Children Department Director Julius Yator to forcefully evict children from Jesus Love Ministry Children Home in Langas, Eldoret town were futile after they refused to comply.
The director who was accompanied by armed police officers was on Wednesday shocked after the children started crying, saying they won't leave the children's home.
"When we were hopeless in the streets no one came to our rescue, why now with armed police officers? We are going nowhere, we will not leave our dad and mum," said one of the children.
According to Mr Yator, the home is operating without a permit, and is not fit to host the children due to its poor condition.
Mr Yator said he will seek a court order to evict the children from the home.
Bishop Wilson Kurui and Christine Kurui, the proprietors of the children's home, said they have been living with the children for five years without anyone's help.
"We usually house and educate street children at our own expense, how can someone wake up one day and decide to close it?" Bishop Wilson posed.
"Our efforts to get a licence have been sabotaged by the office of the director of children affairs despite applying several times," he claimed.
