It was a tough day for over 70 workers of Trans Nzoia county after the county government on Tuesday morning locked them out of the gate for arriving at the county offices late.
The employees, who were expected to report to their working stations by 8.00 a.m, arrived about 15-30 minutes late.
Addressing the press in his office, Deputy Governor Stanley Tarus Kenei said that the county would not entertain laziness at work.
He added that the workers who will be found idling would be fired. The late workers were issued with warning letters.
“Those whose offices were still unoccupied as at the time we locked the gate will receive disciplinary letters to explain why they were late to work. This is our last term, we want to leave a legacy,” said Kenei as quoted by Citizen Digital.
The DG asked the employees who were not ready to keep up with the work speed to leave.
“Any staff who is not ready to work will be sacked and we’ll bring in young energetic people who are ready to work. We are not playing around, and those who cannot keep up with our speed are free to leave,” Kenei noted.
Governor Patrick Khaemba had earlier promised to do away with all lazy workers in his office.
