The Deputy President William Ruto yesterday (Saturday) was among the faithful who attended the consecration of St. Joseph ACK Church in Kipkaren, Uasin Gishu.
Speaking at the church, Mr. Ruto confirmed the sacking of a road contractor he claimed was too lazy to do the job.
According to the deputy president, the contractor he did not name was too lazy hence the dismissal.
"We had a contractor but he has been a bit lazy therefore we will dismiss him and look for another contractor so that he looks for something else to do because he has not been able to build the roads. Maybe he can go sale potatoes or do something else he can do better," said Ruto.
The vice president in his address thanked the church for their effort to in bringing development to the area.
He went ahead to promise the locals of an improved transport system in the area by building tarmacked roads to ease movement of people and goods.
"Thanks so much to the Christians in this area for their cooperation in everything we have been doing in this area. We have started the construction and we will tarmac this road from this place that goes all the way from Kapkatendu up to Nandi," said Mr. Ruto.
He also promised to improve water sufficiency by improving the Lumakanda dam.
"I am aware of the water problem in this area but we have agreed with Lake Victoria North chairman, Mr. Lagat, and we have already set aside funds for improvement of Lumakanda dam that will ensure availability of water in Kipkaren," the Vice President promised.
