There was drama in Nakuru town Sunday evening after an alleged drunk man who had entered a sewer hole to take a rest was rescued by a street boy.
The man who was still visibly drunk and who was only identified as Peter is alleged to have entered the hole to cool off but took long to come out forcing traders and boda boda operators in the zone to raise an alarm.
The traders called upon the police who could not rescue the man.
"We called upon the police but they could not eject the man. In fact, they wanted to lob teargas into the hole but we objected and they later went away," said Peris Njeri a trader.
It is at that moment that a street boy known as Gondi decided to venture into the hole which is opposite club Taidys and managed to rescue the man.
Gondi said he found Peter in a pool of dirty water but was otherwise safe because their was little water inside the hole.
He was later paid Sh500 by Peter's relatives for his exploits who later took him home.
