Drama ensued at the Milimani Law Courts on Tuesday as five people attempted to release Embakasi East MP Babu Owino from police custody.
Reports indicate that the individuals atempted to free Owino by blocking the exit door used by accused persons to access the court.
The move forced court officers to use the door used by Magistrates.
The assailants soon learnt that the court officers had chosen a different route and later moved to the gate where they chanted, calling for Babu's release.
They overpowered the court officials and freed Owino momentarily before he was recaptured.
Officers at the scene resorted to holding Owino at the Milimani Law Court cells as his supporters chanted "free Babu Owino."
Babu will now spend a second night behind bars after the High Court announced that it would give a ruling on his bond application on Wednesday. The former University of Nairobi students' leader was charged with subversion and incitement to violence.
