Drama erupted on Monday morning during a press briefing by the Nairobi Central Business District Association (NCBDA) at the Boulevard Hotel.
The chaos erupted after goons stormed into the hotel and disrupted a planned briefing which was aimed at highlighting Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's failures since taking over the county's leadership.
Timothy Muriuki who is the chairperson of NCBDA was roughed up by two unknown men who threatened to throw him into the hotel's swimming pool.
In a video that captured the chaos, the goons argued that the event was meant to taint Governor Sonko's image.
Mr Muriuki was dragged out of the hotel premises and the statement in which he had listed Sonko's 'failures' torn in front of the camera, Citizen Digital has reported.
Muriuki attempted to flee from the scene but the goons caught him and forced him to sit in a pool of muddy water.
In his defense, the NCBDA chair said he had no intention of maligning the Governor's name
Governor Sonko has recently been condemned over alleged poor leadership following the flooding in the city and the bad roads that are nearly impassable.
Sonko, however, dismissed the claims stating that he is dealing with cartels in the city before embarking on various development projects.
