Ngirici, the Kirinyaga Women Rep, said she had taken the gifts after she made a promise to the centre's management.

"After visiting the children's home last week where I promised to donate 180 mattresses and 180 pairs of shoes and to construct a pit latrine for the kids. Today I was shocked when I tried to deliver what I promised but senior (Kirinyaga) county government officials ordered that the gate to the children's home be locked to prevent me and (my) crew from making the delivery," Ngirici said

The vocal politician however forced her way into the children's home.

"My office will not be intimidated by people who don't believe we are all brothers and sisters where social responsibility remains a collective effort," she said.

Ngirici is engaged in a vicious political fight with county boss Ann Waiguru.

The Women Rep has announced he intentions to ouster Waiguru in 2022.
