Starehe Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda was reportedly kicked out of the packed court room by opposition supporters just before the proceedings of the court began.

It took the intrusion of opposition leader Raila Odinga who persuaded his followers to calm down as they were apparently infuriated by seditious sentiments made by Gatundu South legislator Moses Kuria, Kimani Ngunjiri and their Kabete counterpart Ferdinand Waititu.

Anti-riot police officers who had been positioned inside and outside the confines of the court accompanied Kamanda out of the compound to avoid ugly clash.

During the court hearings, police officers took control to ensure security as a confrontation between supporters of the two coalitions was projected.

After the proceedings, the eight lawmakers of the Cord and Jubilee coalitions were incarcerated in police custody until Friday, awaiting further inquiries into remarks they made that were believed to be hateful.

The accused legislators included Moses Kuria, Ferdinand Waititu, Kimani Ngunjiri, Junet Mohamed, Jonstone Muthama, Timothy Bosire, Florence Mutua and Aisha Jumwa all who were remanded until Friday.
