A middle aged man arrived at his in-laws this morning in Monyerero ward, Kisii county with three cows as dowry price asking to be allowed to bury his wife.
The man's wife had fallen sick for along time and alot of money was spent paying hospital bills. The woman unfortunately succumbed to her illness. The woman's parents decided to arrange for her final send off as the man had not cleared the bride price.
As the burial arrangements were going on, the man arrived at the in-laws home and pleaded to be allowed to bury his wife. However, the in-laws did not give an ear to him and chased him away.
"We can't allow you to take over the burial arrangements because you owe us. You will have to clear the bride price first," said one of the in-laws.
The man disappeared but re-appeared after some time accompanied with his few friends with three cows.
The in-laws were shocked by the man's drama. He tried again to plead with them but they said the bride price was still not enough.
"I have brought this to clear the remaining bride price," said the man whose pleas again fell on deaf ears.
