Speaking in a panel discussion on prime TV Sunday night, Murathe minced no words in saying that the flamboyant governor had failed and was running the county on video using his team of bloggers.

''He's clearly a candidate for impeachment. He has totally failed. He runs this city on TV, he runs this city on video. He has a network of bloggers who keep telling people what he's doing, how's is cleaning garbage, how he's doing roads,'' Murathe said.

The Jubilee Party vice chair's words add another twist to the fast-paced drama pitting the two.

Governor Sonko has long claimed that Mr Murathe is part of the cabal working to frustrate him and make it difficult for him to deliver on his mandate.

Murathe said that the city was in a state of squalor and confusion that spoke volumes about Sonko's leadership ability.
