Residents of Kahawa Sukari in Ruiru sub-county enjoyed a free drama on Wednesday morning after a pastor was arrested by Kenya National Highways Authority(KeNHA) officials sticking posters on concrete walls of Thika Superhighway at Kahawa Sukari underpass.
The pastor at one of the churches in Mwihoko, Githurai, was caught red-handed using wheat-paste to stick posters advertising an upcoming night kesha in his churh.
Residents were left in stitches as the pastor resisted arrest threatening the officials with hell's fire for being an impediment to spreading the word of God.
He likened them with the biblical Saul who was prosecuting the early church using physical force. He asked them to release him and repent for mishandling a man of God.
The officials stood their ground and took the pastor to the nearby Kahawa Sukari Police Post for illegal bill posting, even after being invited to the night kesha.
"We are sending a strong message to all those who paste posters on the highway that their days are numbered. The cost of maintaining the highway has gone up since even some people use unremovable glue to stick posters thus defacing walls and removing paints when these posters are peeled off," said Gerald Muindi, one of the officers on patrol.
Posters on all types of advertisements are plastered everywhere along the superhighway ignoring warnings against posters.
There are even posters on road signs endangering lives of the road users.
