Three teachers are nursing injuries, after they were attacked and caned in class by standard six students at Kirimon Primary School in Samburu East.
The students are said to have been angered by severe punishments given by the teachers, who are all female.
Other teachers who tried to intervene and save their colleagues were also caned and forced to run for their lives.
Some parents who had answered the teachers’ distress call were also injured during the Monday morning incident.
Police officers from Kirimon police post had to be called to salvage the situation, and had to shoot in the air to save the teachers.
The boys damaged school property, with the administration forced to close down indefinitely.
The school administration later met TSC to decide on the next course of action.
“The men who ran to the school to save the situation found the boys with machetes and other weapons, we do not understand how they got then to school,” said Magdalene Kapepe, school Committee member.
"The school will remain closed until Friday, where all the stakeholders from the ministry of education, the TSC and the union to come and give the way forward now,” said Raphael Leshalote, KNUT Sec General, Samburu.
