Veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga on Saturday lashed out at Musalia Mudavadi and Wetangula and tore into the plans of the two to unite the Luhya nation.

He did not mention Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi by name but it was clear to all and sundry what he was alluding to.

Mr Odinga said that people should unite on account of policies and ideologies and not on account of their ethnicities.

''People should unite on account of policies. Let us not unite because you are Luhya's. We need to practise progressive politics. Unite with people who are like-minded and who share your ideologies and policies,'' Mr Odinga fired.

Mr Odinga spoke in Busia.

His words come amid plans by Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula to merge their party in the spirit of Luhya unity.

There was a fallout between him and other NASA principals after he dramatically shook hands with his political arch-nemesis President Uhuru Kenyatta.
