Nairobi's Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has turned his guns to Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and Inspector General Joseph Boinett.
The flamboyant governor hit out at the two following the significant downsizing of his security detail that has seen him transact Nairobi County business from his Muua home in Machakos County.
He said that he did not need government security and he would not be distracted by cartels from delivering for the people of Nairobi.
''That security of the police, I don't want that security. They should not be returned to me. They should be taken to guard Matiangi's farm of bananas... If they are too many they should be taken to guard the farm of maize belonging to Boinett in Rift Valley. Enough is enough,'' Governor Sonko said.
Sonko's words add another layer of complexity to the fast-paced drama pitting him against elements in the national government.
The flamboyant governor was speaking during a church service at an AIPCA church in Njiru, Nairobi.
He has claimed that there is a plan to eliminate him.
