Teresia Njeri who survived the night of horror, was sure the body belonged to her 6-year-old daughter, Mary Wambui.

Another family maintained the body was that of 9-year-old Mary Wanjiku whose mother drowned.

"I am shocked that some people are claiming my daughter’s body. I am positive that she is my daughter,” said Njeri.

The deceased was one of the residents who were washed away to their death following Solai Dam tragedy which left 47 people dead and scores homeless.

However, another family maintained the body was that of 9-year-old Mary Wanjiku whose mother Margaret Waithera had also drowned.

“ This is the body of our child. I know how she looks and the father sent me to come and identify the body,” said a relative.

At the end, it was agreed DNA tests be conducted to identify the body.

“We never expected this to happen but the only way to solve the confusion is a DNA test. We shall collect samples from parents from the two families and compare them to those of the deceased,”said a doctor who sought anonymity.
