The visitors took an early lead as their captain scored in the first half.

In the second half, the Maseno University team dominated the play but were not able to score an equaliser.

Things turned ugly  when the referee denied the Maseno team an 'open penalty' leading to an uproar from the home team fans.

Despite the angry reaction from the fans,  the game continued and matters got worse when Maseno was denied 'another clear penalty'  after  a Kenyatta University player held the ball with her hand in the penalty box.

The referee rejected the claims and instructed the players to keep playing a decision,  that made the home fans more angry.

No sooner had the referee blew up the final whistle to mark the end of the game,  than the Maseno University students invaded the pitch and started beating him up.

The angry students had a better part of the referee before the police intervened to rescue him.

The injured referee was rushed to the institution's hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

Speaking to a Hivisasa writer in the institution, one of the KUSA officials said that the issue was under investigation and if found guilty Maseno University risks being banned from hosting the game for five years.

"We are deeply investigating the issue. If found guilty Maseno could be banned for up to five years for ever hosting the games again," the official said.

The 7th edition of the KUSA women games were held in Maseno University from 9th March and are expected to be completed on Monday 12th March.
