There was drama at Nakuru Free Area's African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) church on Sunday when worshipers clashed due to leadership wrangles.
The church is embroiled in a leadership wrangle with two factions, one led by Bishop Peter Muiruri who claims to be the Nakuru East Diocese bishop and another led by Bishop Naftali Thuku for the same position. Each group is claiming to be the bona fide one to lead the church.
Witnesses said the sermon was in progress on Sunday before Bishop Muiruri’s supporters stormed the church armed as Bishop Thuku was conducting the service leading to a fight.
Church members tore into each other while others for scampered.
Police were forced to intervene and cool things down.
The ugly scene at the church left residents of the area shocked.
