There was drama in Kisumu after a snake was reportedly found under president Uhuru Kenyatta's seat.

Uhuru was in the lakeside city, Tuesday, to preside over the 58th edition of the Kenya National Drama Festivals, State Concert.

Reports indicate one of the officials spotted the non-venomous small grass-snake which is popularly found in the lake region, causing a commotion at the Kisumu State Lodge.

Several government officials including Sports and Culture Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario left their seats after scampering for safety, upon hearing about the reptile.

Calm was however restored moments later, as Uhuru arrived, upon reception by area governor Jack Ranguma.

Security was heightened in the region, as locals turned up in large numbers to meet the president along Kisumu streets.
