There was a heated argument moments before the ODM candidate Aisha Jumwa was declared the winner of the Malindi parliamentary seat.

According to The Star, Jumwa’s rivals who declined to concede defeat, turned chaotic before the security officers led by Malindi police boss Matawa Muchangi, intervened and restored order.Muchangi cautioned that anyone who interferes with the exercise would be arrested.Jumwa’s rivals had demanded that the Malindi returning officer Sudi Mwakudonda suspends the announcement of the winner. The outgoing Kilifi Woman Representative who got 28,788 votes in Tuesday’s vote, flooring her seven male rivals, was then declared the winner by Mwakudonda in their absence.Among her competitors was the immediate former MP Willy Mtengo, whom she beat during the ODM party nominations.
