There was drama in Mombasa on Monday when Mvita constituency parliamentary aspirant on a Jubilee Party ticket Omar Shallo was denied his nomination certificate despite winning in the April party nominations.
The exercise which had been organized by the party to issue nomination certificates to the nominations winners was thrown into a spin as two rivals eying the ticket clashed.
Mohamed Tenge who had lost to Shallo during the primaries claimed that he won the party ticket to take on ODM's Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir during the August polls.
However, while dismissing Tenge's claims, Shallo said that his rival was not supposed to have participated on the nominations as he has questionable academic credentials and serious criminal records.
According to Shallo, he won the nominations in a contest in an exercise which he said was free and fair.
While warning of dire consequences if Shallo is not given the nomination certificate, the politician's supporters vowed to "kill" the Uhuru Kenyatta-led party in the constituency.
With Governor aspirant Suleiman Shahbal put on the spot, Shallo's supporters threatened to reject him at the ballot if he will not unlock the deadlock that is now threatening to handicap the President's support in the opposition stronghold.
