Hundreds of Garissa High School students on Wednesday walked all the way to the governor’s office over alleged land grabbing.
According to the students, unidentified persons have encroached the institution's land and nothing seems to be done over the matter.
The angry students destroyed several stalls erected on the school's land before making their way to the office of the county boss to present their grievances.
Police swung into action in a bid to contain the situation.
The county commissioner addressed them and assured them that the matter would be investigated.
The hundreds of students caused a traffic snarl-up along the Mwingi-Garissa highway as they marched to the governor’s office.
The office of the county boss also houses county and regional administrators.
The students also vowed to continue with the protests until a fence is erected around the school to stop land grabbers from taking over the property.
The county boss is yet to address the matter.
