Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i has hailed 2017 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education candidates (KCPE) good result.

While releasing the results for the examination on Tuesday, the CS observed that the number of candidates who scored below 100 out of the entire 500 marks has reduced,a demonstration of intensified hard work among the candidates.

''The number of candidates who scored below 100 marks has reduced from the 6747 last year to 2360 this year. This says volumes about the performance this year and shows that there is more seriousness and focus among our children,'' said Matiang'i.

He also congratulated teachers observing that the ministry did not register even a single case of successful or attempted cheating.

''I wish to recognize our primary school teachers and especially the headteachers as our heroes. This is because we never registered even a single case of exam malpractice during the exams and this in turn means that no candidate will have their results cancelled,'' said the CS who also doubles up as the Interior minister.
