Kenya has been lauded for its efforts to set up regulatory frameworks that will promote mining in the country.
DRC Budget Minister Pierre Kangudia has said the country is heading in the right direction in regards to mining.
“Kenya should ensure that minerals remain property of the state rather than investor property in order to retain and grow the country’s wealth,” Kangundia said during a press briefing on Wednesday.
He has also urged the Kenyan government to put in place stringent laws that will ensure the industry is not over-run by cartels.
"Kenya should not be in any rush when it comes to mining. The government should be in charge in order to fully exploit minerals," Kangudia said.
On his part, Mining CS Dan Kazungu praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for assenting the Mining Act, 2016.
