Kirinyaga county boss Anne Waiguru has told female politicians in the country to go for higher seats within Kenya's political axis.
Speaking in Naivasha, Waiguru said politics is tough and tougher for women but there is no giving up for women.
"Competition is not enmity. I encourage all of you to walk the extra mile and run for higher elective posts," Waiguru said.
The governor and vice chair of Council of Governors applauded women for working hard to achieve as much as men.
"Women in Kenya have made major strides in leadership, and not only in politics but also in other sectors. The future is bright for Kenyan women," she said.
"Women are headed in the right direction. I urge them to seek for more elective positions such as governor," she added.
