A 16-year-old boy is recovering at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital after his private parts were chopped off.
The incident occurred over a Sh 20 Chang’aa drink in Magare village, Rongai Sub County.
Rift Valley Provincial Hospital Deputy Nursing Officer Edward Muhavi confirmed the victim was admitted in the facility and is receiving treatment.
“The boy is in a stable condition after receiving treatment but, he will never function as a man,” said Muhavi.
Speaking from his hospital bed, the boy alleged that he was attacked by Samuel Kamirita, Evans Lang’at Rotich and Geofrey Kamau on Tuesday evening.
His brother, Dominic Kiptalam, said the minor who has been taking alcohol is a friend to the suspects. He allegedly had gone to take alcohol at their resident before the incident.
The boy is said to have drunk chang’aa worth Sh 20, which he was unable to pay for.
“They later agreed that he will fetch a jerry can of water to clear his debt only for them to differ later,” said Kiptalam.
The boy acknowledged to have drunk the chang’aa and was ready to fetch water to compensate.
According to Kiptalam, his brother dropped out of school and does casual jobs for a living.
Kiptalam said that the suspects locked the boy in the house where they sell illicit brew, tied his mouth and chopped his genitals mercilessly. They later dumped him along the road where Good Samaritans found him calling for help.
The offenders have allegedly been arrested and are in police custody.
