The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Amollo Odinga has defended chang’aa and busaa brewing in Busia and the other parts of the country at large.
While addressing a huge crowd in Malaba town in Busia County, Odinga reiterated that doing chang’aa and busaa business was not a crime and said that police should go after real criminals who have made the country insecure instead of wasting their time chasing after citizens who are working hard to earn their living by brewing the drink.
“The last time I checked consumption of chang’aa or busaa was not a crime in Kenya. Instead of launching a crackdown on people who are just out to enjoy themselves, police officers should go for criminals who have made the country insecure,” Raila said.
However, Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho said the government would not stop the campaign against illicit brew until all those involved in the business are caught.
