Addressing Matatu drivers at Thika main stage where he made an abrupt tour with his officers, the officer said drivers have to follow road regulations to avoid accidents.

“Everyone who goes against the traffic rules is an enemy of the residents. They will have to face the wrath of the Kenyan Constitution,” said Kiprono.

He also cautioned the drivers who drive under the influence of alcohol and drugs saying that they will not be left behind in the crackdown.

“I am warning you against careless driving and speeding because my officers will be very vigilant to make sure that all those who violate the traffic rules are taken to court and charged accordingly. We will be having an alcoblow at every road block in Thika and along Thika road,” cautioned the officer.

Kiprono further called upon all the stakeholders in the transport industry including passengers to support them in the fight against road carnage.

He said that together as a team, they would ensure that all traffic rules violators were prosecuted as a way of curbing more deaths of innocent Kenyans on roads.

The impromptu visit was to check on the roadworthiness of the Matatus operating in the area.
